Gotham “Doctor’s Hermetic” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in stainless steel, circa 1950.
Gotham was a sub-brand of the Ollendorff Watch Company of New York. This watch has an hermetic case designed to be weatherproof, and a red sweep seconds hand and matching red 5-minute markers on the dial. It is in crisp, excellent condition with razor sharp case edges and showing almost no wear. Sides of the case still show the original factory-applied brushed finish. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with some light wear and a few specks of corrosion on the retaining bars. Case measures 35mm long and 23mm wide. Refinished dial is very good, with slight patina from age. Acrylic crystal is excellent. Crown and crystal gaskets are excellent, but I cannot guarantee water resistance. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Gotham-branded ETA manual wind movement, just serviced and running well.
