Scarce Elgin “Home Run 1600” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1931.
One of the scarcest Elgin designs from the early 1930s, the “Home Run 1600” has an unusual sculpted case with Art Deco engravings set in panels on the bezel. It was priced at $37.50 in 1931. This example is in excellent condition with crisp engravings and no brassing. Curved caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 36mm long and 28mm wide. Original two-tone dial is excellent, has gold embossed numerals. Glass crystal is excellent, with only a few faint scratches. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Elgin grade 428 movement.
