Very rare Gruen “Orne 11” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold with two-tone blue enamel, circa 1929.
Gruen's "Orne" series of ladies enamel watches were the epitome of Art Deco design. All are rare and desirable. This is model has highly stylized geometric designs inlaid with powder blue and ultramarine enamel. It is very rare and this is the only the second example I have ever seen. It was priced at $55.00 in 1929. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Blue enamel is perfect and complete. Caseback is excellent, with a monogram. Case measures 28mm long and 16mm wide. Dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. Has new blue grosgrain ribbon strap with white gold filled Gruen clasp. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Gruen Guild grade 833 manual wind movement, serviced last year and running strong.
