Scarce Elgin “Aztec” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1932.
Elgin catalogued this watch as the “Senior 952” but its fantastic geometric black-inlaid bezel designs reminiscent of the carvings on ancient Aztec temples in Mexico has caused most collectors to dub it the “Aztec.” It is a very difficult watch to find and among the most desirable of all Art Deco Elgin wristwatches. This is in excellent condition showing no wear to the bezel and all of its original black inlay intact. The caseback is very good unengraved, with some light pitting. The case measures 35mm long and 25mm wide. Original dial is very good. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Elgin grade 488 movement.
