Scarce Elgin “Ladies‘ Wristlet” ladies’ Art Nouveau design wristwatch in solid 18K white gold, circa 1922.

This model houses a 10/0-size Elgin movement in a round case made by the Brooklyn Watch Case Co., much of which is cleverly hidden beneath the ribbon strap for a more aesthetic presentation. This is the first of these I have seen in 18K gold; they are usually either gold filled, or occasionally 14K. The case is quite heavy, weighing over 10 grams and containing more than $300 in gold. It is in excellent condition showing only very slight wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 17mm long and 24mm wide. Original exploding numeral dial is very good and is signed “Elgin U.S.A.” under the bezel. Glass crystal is excellent with a few minor scratches. This watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Elgin grade 444 movement. Has new black grosgrain ribbon band with vintage white gold filled clasp.
