Very rare Hamilton “Barrel B Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K green gold fill, circa 1929.
Hamilton made several varieties of wristwatches based on the barrel shape, with this “Barrel B” model being the final and most elusive version. The green version is very rare and this is one of only a handful known to exist. Hamilton records show that a mere 272 were produced in green gold fill. As one of Hamilton’s most stylized Art Deco watches, the “Barrel B” features Southwestern-inspired geometric designs set against a textured background on the bezel, similar to the Illinois “Chieftain.” This example is in crisp, excellent condition with only a few specks of brassing to the bezel corners. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 35mm long and 29mm wide. Original dial is very good. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987 movement. Has original green crown.
