Scarce Elgin “Joseph Priestley” men’s Streamline Moderne design doctor’s wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1940.

Named for the famed English philosopher and theologian who discovered oxygen, Joseph Priestley (1733 to 1804), this duo-dial doctor’s model is quite scarce… much scarcer than its Hamilton contemporary, the “Seckron.” It was priced at $45.00 in 1940. The movement and crown are offset in the case to accommodate the unique dial configuration containing the two dial registers. It is in excellent condition showing only a tiny amount of brassing to the edges of the lugs. Caseback is excellent, with a very small amount of light wear along the edges. Case measures 44mm long and 20mm wide. Original black dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Elgin grade 537 movement.
