Elgin “Thrift 404” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in two-tone 14K green gold fill and chromium nickel, circa 1930.
The “Thrift 404” has a green gold filled case body and chromium nickel bezel and case back. It was priced to consumers at $23.00 in 1930. This example is in excellent condition, showing only light wear to the chromium finish and a little brassing to the lugs. Caseback is fair, with corrosion and pitting to the chromium finish. The case measures 39mm long and 31mm wide. Original black painted Gothic numeral dial is superb. The watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Elgin grade 485 movement.
