Scarce Lord Elgin “Thornton” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with blue enamel and original band, circa 1954.
The white gold filled version of the “Thornton” is much scarcer than the yellow version and is very difficult to find with its original blue inlaid band. It was priced at $79.50 in 1954. This example is in crisp, excellent condition with no brassing. Original blue enamel inlay is perfect. Case back is superb and unengraved. Case measures 36mm long and 26mm wide. Original dial is excellent, has some areas of light patina. Has new domed acrylic crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 670 movement. Original Hadley band is excellent, with some scratches, but with all of the blue inlay intact.
