Uncommon Lord Elgin “Hamlet” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1954.
The “Hamlet” has an hour glass-shaped case and a crosshatch-patterned dial. It was priced at $137.50 in 1954. This example is in crisp, excellent condition showing only very slight wear. Case edges are still fairly sharp. Caseback is excellent, with a 1960 presentation engraving. Case measures 39mm long and 26mm wide. Original two-tone dial is excellent, with some light patina. Has solid 18K gold applied numerals and markers. Has new, correct glass domed crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 670 movement.
