Scarce Hamilton “Contour” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill.
The “Contour” was Hamilton’s only watch specifically designed to be worn on the side of the wrist. And its flexible lugs permitted it to be worn on top of the wrist also, as Hamilton pointed out in its advertising. It was catalogued only in 1938 and 1939, priced at $52.50. This example is in excellent condition with only very light brassing to the highpoints of the bezel and lugs, and some overall marks. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a spot or two of wear in the corners. Case measures 39mm long and 27mm wide. Original dial is very good, has solid 18K gold applied numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 980 movement.
