Elgin “Thrift 403” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1931.
The “Thrift 403” has a tonneau-shaped case with black inlaid Art Deco stylized designs on the bezel. It was priced to consumers at $21.50 in 1931. This example is in crisp, excellent condition with no wear to the chromium plating. Caseback is excellent, with a few spots of pitting and a monogram. The case measures 35mm long and 30mm wide. Original dial is excellent. The watch is powered by its correct 7 jewel Elgin grade 485 movement.
