Scarce Elgin “Military Watch” men’s Military design wristwatch in nickel, circa 1918.

Like most other American watch manufacturers, Elgin was keen to realize the marketing potential of a military-style wristwatch immediately after World War I, and introduced several models. This version was aimed at “sportsmen, motorists, golfers, athletes and army and navy men,” and was priced at $13.40 in 1918. This example is in excellent condition with the nickel case showing only light wear. Caseback is excellent, with a monogram. Case measures 43mm long and 31mm wide. Original silvered dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 7 jewel Elgin grade 462 movement.
