Very scarce Elgin “Boy Scout” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1930.

This unusual Elgin has “Official Boy Scout Watch” engraved in the bezel and sports the Boy Scout Fleur-de-Lis and motto “Be Prepared,” as well as “Boy Scouts of America Headquarters New York City” on the dial. It was priced at $16.25 in 1930. It is a very scarce watch and difficult to find in good condition, most examples saw heavy use in rugged outdoor conditions and now show significant wear and corrosion. But this is one of the finest examples I have ever seen and is in near mint condition with no wear. Case retains all of its original alternating frosted and polished finish. Caseback is superb and unengraved, with a few light scuffs. Case measures 39mm long and 31mm wide. Original white-finish dial is excellent. Glass crystal is superb. Watch is powered by its correct 7 jewel Elgin grade 462 movement.
