Very scarce Elgin “Captain Molyneux” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with black enamel, circa 1930.

One of the scarcest and most desirable Elgin enamel watches, the “Captain Molyneux” was designed by and named for Captain Edward Molyneux, a British Army captain who opened his own fashion house in Paris in 1919, designing for actresses and European royalty. It has an asymmetrical sunray design inlaid with black enamel and a unique offset triangular dial. This example is in excellent condition with just a tiny speck of brassing in each bezel corner. Black enamel is superb and complete. Caseback is excellent, with a presentation engraving and a tiny speck of wear in each corner. The case measures 30mm long and 17mm wide. Dial is good. Glass crystal is excellent. This watch is powered by its correct 7 jewel Elgin grade 488 movement.
