Scarce Waltham “Model 3981” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1939.
At a whopping 50mm in length from lug to lug, this massive Waltham is among the largest curved watches produced by any American manufacturer during the 1930s… comparable in size to similar ultra long models such as the Gruen “Curvex Majesty” and Bulova “President.” It was priced at $43.50 in 1939. This example is in excellent condition with some light brassing to the bezel. Caseback is very good and unengraved, with some wear along the edges and in the corners. The case measures 50mm long and 22mm wide. Refinished dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Waltham movement.
