Very rare Hamilton “Flintridge” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold with black enamel, circa 1932.
The “Flintridge” is one of the classic Hamilton rarities and has a spring-loaded lid that opens to reveal the dial when activated by a button in the upper right lug. A mere 191 were produced in 14K yellow gold with the 979 movement, and they are rarely offered for sale. This is the first I have ever offered. An extraordinarily expensive wristwatch for the Great Depression, the “Flintridge” was priced to consumers at $150.00 in 1932, plus an extra $8.50 for the enameled monogram. With a case weighing almost 23 grams, it was among Hamilton’s heaviest gold watches. This example is in excellent condition showing only light wear. The caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 40mm long by 28mm wide. Inlaid enamel dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19 jewel Hamilton grade 979-F adjusted movement.
