Scarce Lord Elgin “Thornton” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with blue inlay, circa 1954.
The white gold filled version of the “Thornton” is much scarcer than the yellow version. It was priced at $79.50 in 1954. This example is in crisp, near mint condition with no brassing. Blue inlay has been perfectly restored. Case back is superb and unengraved, with most of its its factory-applied brushed finish. Case measures 36mm long and 26mm wide. Original dial is very good, with some areas of light patina. Has new domed acrylic crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 670 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
