Scarce Elgin “Charles H. Markham” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1929.

Part of Elgin’s American Efficiency series, the “Charles H. Markham” was named in honor of Markham, who was the Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Central Railroad. It was priced to consumers at $41.00 in 1929. It is quite scarce and this is the first example I have offered. This example is in crisp, excellent condition with no brassing to the bezel, just some light wear the corners of the casebody. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few shallow dents. The case measures 38mm long and 30mm wide. Original dial is fair, has silver inlaid numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Elgin grade 487 adjusted movement.
